It’s easy to sentimentalize the Christmas story.  However, to believe that it's a sweet moment of a gentle birth in a barn with livestock gathered around, all on their best behavior, and little cherub angels floating overhead, is to lose sight that the Christmas story is the stuff of earth. It’s gritty and unsettling. Mary and Joseph were probably terrified. Things didn’t go as planned. And when we see the Christmas story as real life rather than a Hallmark movie, the hope that Christmas brings is that much deeper and more powerful. It reminds us that Jesus comes into the real world, not a fantasy world, to redeem all of creation. We invite you to join us this Christmas Eve as we explore the story of Jesus’ birth in a fresh way in order to be encouraged that with his birth hope is here.
